Havoc VR

Havoc VR is Cheshire's only free-roam virtual reality arena, based in Adlington just outside Macclesfield. The headline attraction is the wireless free-roam VR arena, where up to 12 players can move around freely together with no wires or cables getting in the way. Missions range from zombie survival and tactical combat to party-friendly mini-games, with age ratings from 6+ up to 16+ depending on the game, so there's something suitable whether you're bringing young children or teenagers.

Parties are a real strong suit here. There are three tiered party packages starting from £30 per person, each including 40 minutes of free-roam VR, 45 minutes of exclusive use of a party area, freshly made pizzas and fries, fruit cordial, and Judes ice cream. Higher tiers add arcade tokens and slushies for the birthday child or the whole group. The food genuinely gets a mention in almost every review, and the pizzas are proper freshly made ones rather than the frozen stuff you often get at party venues.

Beyond the VR, there's a Multi Ball Active Zone, an interactive sports wall with target games and fast-paced challenges that works well for all ages, plus a selection of classic and modern arcade machines to keep everyone busy between sessions. There's also a spectator screen so parents can watch the action even if they're not taking part themselves.

The venue is open Wednesday to Friday from noon until 9pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 11am until 9pm. A midweek deal is available on Wednesdays and Thursdays between 3pm and 7pm, offering 40 minutes of free-roam VR plus three arcade tokens for £20 per person. All participants need to complete a waiver before their session, which can be done in advance online to speed things up on arrival.
