About this place

Oakenclough Family Hub is a Cheshire East council-run centre in Wilmslow serving families with children and young people from birth up to age 19 (or 25 for those with special educational needs and disabilities). It is a genuinely well-regarded local facility, with a modern, well-thought-out building and staff who are consistently warm and welcoming. Midwifery appointments also take place here, so it is useful from the very earliest stages of parenthood.

The hub runs weekly stay-and-play groups for babies and toddlers, giving parents a chance to get out of the house and meet others at a similar stage, all at no cost. There is a toy library open Monday to Friday from 10am to 3pm where you can borrow toys and equipment to support play at home. The sensory room is a real highlight, free to use and particularly good for early walkers and children with additional needs, with the option to book it for private hourly sessions.

The Cafe@Oakenclough is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 2pm and serves homemade food, tea, and barista coffee in a relaxed, child-friendly setting. Ingredients are sourced from local suppliers, with fresh vegetables coming from the community garden out front where possible. There is both indoor and outdoor play, making it a genuinely nice spot to meet another parent for a coffee while the little ones are kept busy.

The hub is open Monday to Thursday 9am to 5pm and Friday 9am to 4:30pm, and is closed at weekends. It has a wheelchair-accessible entrance, making it easy to arrive with a pushchair. Whether you are expecting, newly postpartum, or navigating the toddler years, there is something here for most stages of early family life.
