Handforth Miniature Railway

Handforth Miniature Railway is a volunteer-run miniature railway set in Meriton Road Park, and it's one of those genuinely lovely local gems that tends to delight grown-ups just as much as the little ones. The volunteers who run it are warm, welcoming, and clearly passionate about what they do, often happy to show you round the trains and share their knowledge.

Rides are just £1 per person, with four trips included, making it a brilliant low-cost outing for families. On a good day there are multiple trains running, so there's plenty to see and experience beyond just your own ride.

The railway is open on Wednesdays from 11am to 2pm and Sundays from 11am to 4pm, so it's worth planning ahead rather than just turning up on a whim. The site has a wheelchair-accessible entrance and wheelchair-accessible parking, so it's well set up for families with varying accessibility needs.
