Things to do with kids in Sheffield
Sheffield is where city meets countryside in a way that genuinely changes daily life with kids. A third of the city is in the Peak District National Park, and you notice it. There are woods and green spaces woven through every part of the city. The family areas of Nether Edge, Crookes, and Ecclesall all have their own character, and the parent community is strong on the outdoor, active side of things.

Family life in Sheffield
The Botanical Gardens are a popular weekday spot. Free, enclosed, and with decent paths for buggies. Endcliffe Park is the classic weekend walk, following the Porter Brook through the woods towards the peaks. Graves Park has a free animal farm that toddlers are mad about. When the weather's terrible, the Weston Park Museum is free and has a good under-fives area, or there's always Mega Fun or one of the soft play spots. Sheffield has a strong forest school scene because, well, there are forests everywhere.
Sheffield parents tend to be outdoorsy and unfussy. The vibe is more 'meet at the park in wellies' than 'structured class with matching outfits.' There's a real DIY ethos to the parent groups here. Lots of community-run stuff.
