About this place
The Snow Centre Manchester is home to the UK's longest indoor real-snow ski slope, a 180-metre main slope with varying gradients, plus a 40-metre beginner slope and a Snow Park with inflatable downhill donuts, an ice slide, and indoor sledging. The temperature on the slope averages around -6°C, so it genuinely feels like the real thing, year-round. Equipment hire is available on site, so you do not need to bring a thing.
Lessons are available for pretty much every age and ability, from four-year-olds on skis for the first time through to advanced coaching and freestyle sessions. The instructors are experienced and well regarded, and the structured lesson programme makes it a genuinely useful way to build skills before a ski holiday, or just to see whether the kids take to it. There are also snowboard lessons, family sessions, and holiday camps during school breaks.
After your time on the slopes, The Lodge Bar and Kitchen is upstairs with a balcony view over the slope and Snow Park, serving food and drink in a relaxed, chalet-style setting. The venue has a wheelchair-accessible entrance, toilets, and lift passes available by the hour or month, so it works for a wide range of visitors.
Opening hours vary across the week, with later sessions on Thursdays and Fridays running until 10pm, and earlier starts at weekends from 8am. It suits everyone from complete beginners to seasoned skiers wanting to keep their technique sharp between trips.
