About this place
Pennington Flash is a lovely country park on the edge of Leigh, and the playground here is a real highlight for families visiting the area. It has a good variety of equipment that keeps children of different ages busy, with enough going on to make it feel like a proper adventure rather than a quick five-minute stop.
The wider park setting makes a big difference. There is a lake with plenty of birdlife, open green space perfect for a picnic with a blanket, and a visitor centre and café that appears to be newly completed. A food van on site serves burgers, chips, hot dogs and doughnuts, plus ice cream, so you are well catered for without needing to bring a packed lunch.
The playground itself is kept clean and well maintained, and the whole site has wheelchair-accessible facilities. Opening hours run from 8am to 6pm every day of the week, so it works well for a morning outing or an after-school visit.
This is a great spot if you want more than just a playground trip. Bring the dog, let the kids run wild, grab an ice cream and make an afternoon of it.
