About this activity
TinyTalk Stockport East offers baby signing and toddler language classes run by award-winning teacher Helen Nagle, who has been teaching for six years. Baby Signing classes are designed for newborns to around 18 months, introducing British Sign Language through nursery rhymes, songs, books and games based on weekly themes. Babies learn to communicate with signs before developing spoken language, which can reduce frustration and support early communication development. Sensory activities and musical instruments are incorporated to further develop communication skills.
Toddler Talking classes cater to children from 18 months upwards and place greater emphasis on language development alongside signing. Sessions focus on activities that encourage sharing, turn taking, social skills and communication, preparing children for preschool. Each class is one hour long, with the first half hour dedicated to structured activities learning signs and exploring themes, whilst the second half hour provides social time for parents and carers to chat and refresh while children play and interact with their peers.
Classes run across multiple Stockport locations including Hazel Grove, Great Moor, High Lane, Bramhall, Marple and Offerton, with sessions available six days a week. The programme is flexible and welcomes families at different stages of their signing journey.
