About this event

Running from 23 to 31 May over the May half term, Conservation: Today and Tomorrow is a special event at Tropical World in Roundhay, Leeds. It takes you through real conservation stories, from the work happening right here in the local area to projects protecting species across the globe. You can browse conservation displays, pick up wildlife-friendly products like bee bombs, butterfly feeders and bug hotels, and learn how everyday actions add up to something meaningful.

There is plenty to keep the kids busy throughout the week. Daily keeper talks at 2pm give families a chance to hear directly from the team about the conservation projects Tropical World is part of, and the Activity Room is open for drop-in crafts and colouring. Outside, a bee trail winds through Roundhay Park where you can see how many bumblebee species you can spot along the way.

When you need a break, the Tropical World Café has a solid spread of fresh sandwiches, salads, soups, jacket potatoes and hot snacks. The Tropical Lookout is also open, weather permitting, serving grab-and-go food including stone-baked pizzas straight from the oven.

This event suits families with children of most ages, and because Tropical World is fully indoors, it works whatever the weather. Children need to be supervised by an adult at all times in the Activity Room.
