Squires Cafe Bar has been a landmark for motorcyclists since it first opened as Squires Milk Bar in 1954, and it has grown into what many call "the Bike Mecca of the North." It sits just outside Sherburn in Elmet near Leeds and draws riders from across the UK and beyond, so even if your family has no interest in bikes, the spectacle of hundreds of machines in the car park is genuinely worth seeing.
The cafe is open seven days a week from 9am (8am at weekends) until 10pm, serving food and drinks throughout the day from a 5-star food hygiene rated kitchen. There is a fully licensed bar, a function room that can hold up to 350 people, and a Sunday carvery using farm-reared Aberdeen Angus beef. Vegan options are available too, and staff have been known to ring suppliers directly to confirm ingredients.
On the practical side, the site has wheelchair-accessible parking, entrance, toilets, and seating, as well as plenty of outdoor space. If you want to make a longer trip of it, there is an on-site camping and caravan park with 32 pitches that accommodates tents, tourers, and motorhomes, plus a secure enclosed dog park called Furfields for anyone bringing the family pet.
It is a good fit for families who enjoy a relaxed, no-fuss atmosphere with a bit of character. The crowd is mixed and welcoming, and the venue regularly hosts live music and events, particularly on summer weekends, so it is worth checking their what's-on page before you visit.
