About this place

Daffil Woods is a small residential woodland on the edge of Churwell in Morley, forming part of the wider Churwell Urban Woodlands. It connects to Clark Spring Wood and Springfield Mill Park, and is larger than it first appears, with a well-established 2.5km walking route that loops between the two woods.

There is a good amount to keep children occupied, including a wooden assault course, a sensory garden, ponds, streams and small waterfalls, and plenty of wildlife to spot. There is also a miniature railway that runs through the woods, though it is not always in operation, so it is worth checking before you visit. A free community book exchange on site is a lovely touch for both children and adults.

Most of the main paths are pushchair-friendly, and there are wheelchair-accessible gates at the entrances. That said, some of the paths are hilly and can be muddy, so it is worth bearing in mind if you are bringing a wheelchair. The woods are open around the clock every day of the week.

There is no dedicated car park, but residential street parking is available on Westwoodside Road and Grange Park Drive. There is no food or drink on site, though Nelson's Fisheries and the Nelson Arms are a short drive away on Victoria Road.
