Bagshaw Museum

Bagshaw Museum is a Victorian Gothic mansion set within the award-winning Wilton Park in Batley, and entry is completely free. The building sits on 36 acres of parkland with woodland and lakeside walks, a children's play area, and a café on site, so there is plenty to keep the family occupied beyond the museum itself.

Inside, the collections take you from local West Yorkshire history to ancient Egypt and far beyond. Highlights include "The Kingdom of Osiris", an atmospheric Egyptian tomb, the African Gallery where you can make music, a South Asia gallery, and local exhibits covering Fox's Biscuits and the legendary Batley Variety Club. There is also a well-stocked gift shop with plenty of souvenirs, and the nearby Butterfly House (open April to Halloween) is included with your visit.

The museum is open Tuesday to Thursday from 10am to 5pm, and at weekends from noon to 5pm, with bank holidays running 11am to 5pm.
