Centenary Play Area is a free, open-access outdoor playground in Barwick in Elmet, just off Welfare Avenue. It is enclosed, which makes it a reassuring spot for parents with younger children, and it is open around the clock every day of the week.
The site has a good selection of swings alongside the usual play equipment, and it sits right next to a large open field where older children can kick a football about. It is a compact but well-used local space, well suited to toddlers and primary-age children.
The playground has a wheelchair-accessible entrance, so it is straightforward to visit with a pushchair or for anyone with mobility needs. Maintenance can be variable, so it is worth bearing in mind that the grass and bins may not always be at their best, but the play area itself is a solid neighbourhood facility.
