About this event

The Woodhouse Ridge Festival takes place on and around the old bandstand at Woodhouse Ridge, one of Leeds' most characterful green spaces just off Meanwood Road in LS7. It's a free-to-attend, outdoor community celebration that brings together families from across the area for a day of live music, kids activities, and general good cheer in a genuinely lovely setting.

The bandstand itself sits above the allotments on the ridge, so there's plenty of open space for kids to roam while you take in the atmosphere. Expect a relaxed, neighbourly vibe rather than a slick commercial festival, which is a big part of the appeal.

It's well suited to families with children of all ages, and the outdoor setting means pushchairs can get around without too much trouble on the grassy paths. As with any outdoor event in Leeds, it's worth dressing in layers and keeping an eye on the weather forecast beforehand.

What to bring

  • Waterproof coat
  • Sturdy walking shoes or wellies
  • Water bottle and snacks
  • Sun cream and a sun hat
  • Blanket or picnic rug to sit on

Top tips

  • The ridge is hilly and uneven, so leave the pushchair at home if you can.
  • Nearest postcode is LS7 2LP, but street parking nearby fills up fast, so walk or cycle if possible.
  • Bring layers, it is exposed up on the ridge and the weather can turn quickly.
  • Head to the old bandstand area first, that is the heart of the action.
  • Pack snacks and a refillable water bottle, outdoor festivals can mean long queues for food.
