The Harrogate Food Festival is a vibrant, family-friendly celebration of international flavours and local Yorkshire talent. Taking place across two weekends in 2026 at The Stray and Ripley Castle, the festival brings together world street food, independent drinks, artisan markets, and live entertainment in a relaxed outdoor setting.
Families can enjoy live music, chef demonstrations, magic shows, kids’ quizzes, arts and crafts, and a traditional funfair, making it a great day out for all ages. Alongside incredible food and entertainment, the festival also supports the local charity Mind in Harrogate, helping raise funds for mental health in the community.
What to bring
- Sunscreen and a wide-brimmed hat for outdoor protection throughout the day
- A picnic blanket or portable chair for comfortable seating on the grass
- Comfortable walking shoes or trainers for getting around the festival grounds
- A light sweater or cardigan for when the temperature drops in the evening
- A small bag or rucksack to carry belongings while you wander
Top tips
- Plan to arrive with enough time to get settled before the 2:15pm stage performance starts, especially if you want a decent view
- Check the weather forecast before you go and bring a compact umbrella or waterproof just in case, since The Stray is fully exposed
- Consider dressing the family in vintage-inspired outfits to match the 1920s and 1930s theme - it adds to the fun and makes for great photos
- If your younger children find loud music overwhelming, position yourselves further back where the volume is gentler
