About this place
Snozone Yorkshire is one of the UK's largest indoor real snow centres, sitting just off Colorado Way in Castleford. Unlike a dry slope or artificial surface, you're skiing and snowboarding on actual snow, which makes a real difference when you're learning or keeping your skills sharp between trips abroad. There's a main slope for those with some experience and a smaller beginner slope for those just starting out, along with lift passes, freestyle sessions, sledging, and family fun activities.
Lessons are available for all ages and abilities, from complete beginners through to more confident skiers looking to refine their technique. Instructors are well regarded for their patience and knowledge, and small group lessons mean you get proper attention. Equipment hire, including boots, skis, and a helmet, is included with lessons, so you don't need to bring anything. If you book a day lesson, lunch is included too.
The venue is open seven days a week, from 9am on weekdays (until 10pm Monday to Thursday and 11pm on Friday) and from 8am at weekends. There is wheelchair-accessible parking and a wheelchair-accessible entrance, and the centre runs a dedicated disability snowsports programme. Membership is available if you plan to visit regularly, with savings of up to £500 a year on offer.
It's worth bearing in mind that the slope can get busy at peak times, and the temperature inside is genuinely cold, so gloves and warm layers are a good idea. That said, it's a solid option for families wanting a taste of skiing without travelling to the mountains, and a great place to build confidence before a ski holiday.
