Shipley Library

Shipley Library is Bradford Council's public library serving central Shipley, located on Well Croft just off the town centre. You can borrow books from the shelves or place orders, and there are jigsaws to borrow or sit and do in the library. Free internet access is available, along with space to bring your own laptop and use the free Wi-Fi, plus photocopying and printing facilities.

There is a good range of regular sessions running through the week. On Monday mornings the Early Years Alliance Play and Learn group runs from 9.30am to 10.30am with no booking needed, though it is term-time only. Tuesday afternoons bring Under 5 Story Time and Craft from 2pm to 2.45pm, Thursday afternoons have a Craft and Chat session from 1.30pm to 4pm, and on Fridays there is a Learn My Way digital skills session from 2pm to 4pm, which does require booking as there is a waiting list.

The library is open Monday 9am to noon, Tuesday and Wednesday 9am to 7pm, Thursday and Friday 9am to 5pm, and Saturday 9am to 4pm. It is closed on Sundays. The building has a wheelchair-accessible entrance and wheelchair-accessible parking, and meeting rooms are available to book.

The staff are generally well regarded and work hard given the resources available to them. It is worth noting that the children's area is now divided into two sections by a computer bay, so if you are planning a group activity in that space it is worth contacting the library beforehand to check the layout suits your needs.
