Rodley Nature Reserve is a wonderful spot for families wanting to explore nature without the crowds. This peaceful wetland reserve sits alongside the river and is home to kingfishers, herons, water rails and plenty of other birdlife across different habitats. There are several bird hides dotted around the site where you can sit quietly and watch wildlife, and the clearly marked paths are well-maintained and pushchair-friendly in most areas. The visitor centre has clean facilities and helpful volunteers, and there's even a boot-washing station so you don't track mud back to the car. Young children will enjoy the gentle pace of exploring here, though older kids with a real interest in wildlife will get the most out of it.
