The Museum Cafe and Coffee Bar sits inside the museum on Oxford Road and is open Tuesday to Saturday from 8am, and from 9am on Sundays, closing at 5pm each day. It's a smart-casual spot that covers breakfast, lunch and snacks, so you can easily build a full day around a museum visit without having to head elsewhere for food.
The menu leans heavily towards vegetarian options, which is genuinely refreshing. Past dishes have included shakshuka, pomegranate and glazed halloumi flatbreads, and aubergine parmigiana, and the children's menu is well thought out with plenty of veggie choices and good portion sizes. Kids' meals have been noted at around £4.50, and there's a breakfast meal deal that represents solid value. The coffee is taken seriously here too, with properly made flat whites and hot chocolates that people actually come back for.
Practically speaking, the cafe is fully wheelchair accessible, with an accessible entrance, seating and toilets. There's no outdoor seating, but inside you'll find some tables with plug sockets if you need to keep a device charged while the little ones recharge too. It can get busy, so arriving a bit earlier in the day is worth considering.
