About this place

Janet's Foss is a stunning natural waterfall tucked into the limestone countryside near Malham in the Yorkshire Dales. The pool at the base of the falls is a popular spot, and on a warm day you can stand under the cascade itself, which is a memorable experience for older children and adults alike.

The site sits along a well-walked route that connects Malham with Gordale Scar, and many people include it as part of a circular walk taking in Malham Cove too. The paths are generally manageable, though the area around the falls involves some uneven terrain and steps that may be tricky for wheelchair users or those with limited mobility.

It is worth knowing that the water near the edges of the pool tends to be warmer than the centre, so if anyone is tempted to paddle or take a dip, keeping close to the shallower edges is the sensible approach. The car park is not far away, making it a relatively easy outing to plan around a longer day in the Malham area.
