Go Ape Temple Newsam

Go Ape Temple Newsam is a high ropes adventure site set within the grounds of a 500-year-old country mansion and beautiful woodlands, just four miles from Leeds city centre. There are three courses to choose from: Treetop Adventure for children from age 4 (over 1m tall), Treetop Adventure Plus for ages 6 and over (above 1.2m), and the full Treetop Challenge for ages 10 and up, which includes tree-to-tree crossings, Tarzan Swings, zip lines and The Plummet.

Every session starts with a safety briefing, and the harnesses and clips are straightforward to use. The staff here are genuinely brilliant with nervous participants of all ages, whether that's talking a hesitant child through a tricky section or keeping a group laughing throughout. The courses themselves have a good variety of obstacles and challenges, and the wooded setting makes the whole thing feel like a proper day out rather than just an activity.

Beyond the treetops, the wider Temple Newsam estate is worth making the most of. There's a lakeside garden and Georgian walled garden for a picnic, a Tea Room, and the award-winning Home Farm rare breed conservation farm nearby. The site has wheelchair-accessible parking and entrance, and dogs are welcome too.

It works well for birthday parties, school trips, and group bookings, as well as families wanting something a bit different. Opening hours vary by day, so it's worth checking the website before you book, and booking in advance is recommended to secure your preferred time slot.
