About this place
Farsley Library is a well-loved community library on Old Road in Farsley, part of the Leeds Libraries network. It has a warm, welcoming atmosphere and staff who genuinely get to know their regular visitors and families. Though it is not the largest branch, it is well-kept and peaceful, with a good range of books across ages and genres, a healthy turnover of new releases, and occasional book sales worth keeping an eye out for.
The children's area is a real highlight, with colourful and inventive bookshelves, a great selection of age-appropriate books, and plenty of play resources to keep young ones occupied. Den-building and imaginative play are very much on the cards, and Rhyme Time runs on Mondays for younger children. Hot drinks are available, so you can settle in comfortably while the children explore.
The library is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9am to 12pm and 1pm to 5pm, and on Saturdays from 10am to 1pm. There is on-site parking, a wheelchair-accessible entrance and designated disabled parking spaces, along with toilets and baby-changing facilities. A meeting room is also available to hire, which has been used for everything from community gatherings to children's birthday parties.
Membership of Leeds Libraries is free, and as part of the wider network you can borrow books, eBooks and eAudio titles. Whether you are popping in for a quiet read, getting some focused work done, or making a morning of it with young children, Farsley Library is a genuinely useful and friendly local resource.
