About this place
Birchfield Family Dairies is an award-winning farm attraction in the heart of Nidderdale, near Summerbridge in Harrogate. Admission is £8.95 for adults and children aged 2 to 16, with under-2s free and parking free too. The farm is open Tuesday to Sunday, 10am to 4pm, and is closed on Mondays except during North Yorkshire school and bank holidays.
The animal barn is home to cows, donkeys, ponies, pigs, goats, guinea pigs, ducks, and sheep, and during lambing season (March and April) you can watch newborns arrive and help bottle-feed the lambs at 11am and 2pm. Year-round there are bouncy castles, an indoor adventure playground with slides and a climbing wall, pedal go-karts, a giant sandpit with buckets and spades provided, and a woodland walk with dens, bug hotels and nature fact boards. Seasonal highlights include pick-your-own strawberries, a maize maze, a sunflower field, pumpkin picking in October, and a Magical Christmas Experience in November and December.
The farm café serves homemade ice cream made from fresh milk on-site, available in cones, tubs, sundaes or milkshakes, alongside a full breakfast menu, toasties, sandwiches, waffles, and freshly ground coffee. It is the kind of place you can return to throughout the year and find something different each time.
The site has a wheelchair-accessible entrance, accessible toilets, and accessible parking, making it straightforward to visit with pushchairs or anyone with mobility needs. It suits a wide age range, from toddlers in the sandpit through to older children on the zip line and go-karts, and adults who simply want a good day out in the Yorkshire countryside.
