Big Depot Climbing Centre

Big Depot is one of Leeds' largest indoor climbing centres, sitting on Gelderd Road in Holbeck and open seven days a week from 9am. The sheer scale of the building means the walls can accommodate a wide variety of features and route styles, from auto belay and rope climbing through to bouldering. Routes are reset regularly, and the setting quality is consistently high across the Depot group of centres.

For families, there is a solid range of junior sessions and classes starting from age 1, covering everything from early years climbing through to nationally accredited courses. Holiday camps run during school holidays for children aged 7 and over, with a full day of supervised climbing games and activities, all equipment, and lunch included. All instructors are DBS checked and NSPCC Child Protection trained, which is reassuring when you are dropping kids off.

The centre also has a café on site with well-priced food and drinks, clean changing facilities, and a welcoming atmosphere that regulars comment on warmly. Social climbing sessions are available free with entry, which is a nice way to meet other climbers if you or your older children are new to the sport or new to the city.

The venue has a wheelchair-accessible entrance, car parking, toilets, and seating, so accessibility is well covered. Whether you are bringing a complete beginner or a child who already has a few sessions under their belt, Big Depot has the space and the staff to make it work.
