About this event
Rodley Nature Reserve runs supervised pond dipping sessions for families, led by their volunteer team who know the reserve and its wildlife well. It's a proper hands-on session where you and the kids can get up close to the creatures living in the pond, from water insects and larvae to amphibians and other pond life.
Children and adults get stuck in together, with experienced volunteers on hand to help identify what you find and explain a bit about how these creatures live. It's the kind of activity where kids who are usually glued to a screen end up genuinely fascinated by what's wriggling in a tray of pond water.
The session takes place outdoors at the reserve in Rodley, Leeds, so dress for the weather and expect to get a little muddy. It's well suited to families with curious children of most ages who enjoy being out in nature.
