Join Aireborough Rotary Club for their Grand Easter Egg Hunt at Rodley Nature Reserve, a lovely spot for families to explore the Yorkshire countryside whilst hunting for Easter eggs. The event combines outdoor adventure with traditional Easter fun, featuring an egg hunt across the reserve alongside stalls and games to keep children entertained.
With refreshments available on site, it's a great way to spend an Easter day without worrying about packing a picnic. The natural setting means children can burn energy outdoors whilst enjoying the spring scenery, making it ideal for families looking to do something seasonal with a bit of exploration thrown in.
What to bring
- Bags or baskets for collecting eggs during the hunt
- Waterproof jackets and layers, as April weather can be unpredictable
- Sturdy walking shoes or wellies suitable for outdoor terrain
- Sun cream and hats for sun protection on the day
- Hand sanitiser and wet wipes for after handling eggs and exploring the reserve
Top tips
- Arrive at least 15 minutes early to get a good briefing on where the egg hunt boundaries are and give yourself a better chance of finding eggs
- Wear comfortable walking shoes rather than trainers, as the reserve has uneven ground and grass areas that can get muddy
- Go for the stalls and games first if your little ones tire easily, then do the egg hunt when they're fresh and energised
- Bring a small rucksack for each child so they can comfortably carry their eggs without getting tired, and it keeps their hands free for exploring
