Family Singalongs is a chance for children of all ages to join in with songs and music in the welcoming main hall of Leeds City Museum. Led by Emma, these sessions are designed to get everyone joining in together, whether your little ones are confident singers or prefer to sit back and listen.

It's a relaxed, inclusive event where families can enjoy some musical fun together without any pressure to perform. The museum setting means you can make a full afternoon of it, exploring the exhibits before or after the singalong.

What to bring

  • A small blanket or cushion if your younger child likes to sit comfortably on the floor
  • A notebook and pencils for older children who might want to draw whilst listening
  • Hand sanitiser and tissues
  • A snack and drink for afterwards, as the museum café can get busy
  • Spare clothes or a change of top for younger children if they get overexcited

Top tips

  • Arrive 10-15 minutes early so children can settle into the space and get comfortable before the singing starts
  • If you have a very young baby, sitting near the back of the hall gives you the option to step out without disrupting others
  • Check what songs might be featured beforehand if your child has favourites they'd like to hear
  • The museum is free to enter, so you can explore the galleries either before or after the singalong at no extra cost
  • School holidays tend to be busier, so aim for a quieter weekday session if your child prefers a calmer atmosphere
